Baruch Foundation Research Project Tracking Information
The
Belle W. Baruch Foundation (B.W.B.F.) has established a proposal review
process to better tract research activities on Hobcaw
Barony. The process is designed to reduce the potential for
conflicting projects and negative impacts on the
environment, while minimizing the time required for review.
You will be asked to
complete a Research Proposal Submittal Form (See
Example Form),
as well as, identify
your research site locations on a
North Inlet Site Map
before beginning any research in the North Inlet Estuary
and/or its surrounding uplands. You
will not need to include too much detail, but will need to
be sure to address ‘potential environmental impacts’.
Please contact
Paul Kenny
(Research Resource Specialist) at the USC Baruch Marine
Field Laboratory.
A committee of
foundation and resident university staff will review your
proposal for approval. A final decision on proposals deemed
to have no significant impact on the environment or other
research opportunities usually takes a matter of days.
Proposals that could significantly impact the environment or
other research on Hobcaw Barony may take up to three months
for review. You will receive a letter
from the B.W.B.F. with a final decision regarding your
proposal.
