This NSF-funded project is a collaborative effort between Dr. Jim
Morris and Scott Neubauer (both at University of South Carolina. For
decades, Dr. Morris has been studying marsh plots within the North
Inlet (SC) salt marsh and has documented how salt marsh primary
production is influenced by sea level anomalies through their effects
on marsh porewater chemistry (especially salinity but also nutrients
and sulfide concentrations). This LTREB renewal will continue those
studies, with a focus on understanding interactions between sea level
rise and increasing nutrient concentrations. For more information, the
reader is referred to
Dr. Morris's
website.
