Reservations

To visit or use the facilities at the Baruch Marine Field Laboratory in Georgetown, South Carolina,
 it is necessary to make reservations.  University of South Carolina groups have priority over all reservations. Reservations for non-USC affiliated faculty or students can be made by contacting Jan Blakely by e-mail (jan@belle.baruch.sc.edu) or by phone (843) 546-3623 extension 0.

BMFL Accommodations & Services Descriptions

Housing is available only to individuals and groups conducting research or education activities during their stay.  Rates are for one bed only.  No linens or towels are provided; pillows and blankets are available. No food service is available on site; restaurants and grocery stores are less than a five mile drive.  Occupants are permitted to use the refrigerator, stove and other kitchen appliances.  All occupants are expected to clean up after themselves.

The Kimbel Lodge (conference center) is available to non-profit organizations when the building is not being used by University research and education groups. The conference center accommodates meetings for up to 100 people.  It has a fully- equipped kitchen, ice maker, chairs, tables, bathrooms, and heating and air conditioning.  Audio-visual equipment is available upon request.

Laboratory and office space is available for visiting students, scientists and groups.  Basic laboratory equipment and non-expendable supplies are included with laboratory space rental.  Staff assistance,  data & water chemistry lab services, field equipment and other expendable supplies are available upon request for a small fee.

Boats and vehicles are available only to certified operators with advanced reservations.  Boat training certification sessions are available for the smaller boats for a $25 fee.  Boat rental rates include one tank of gas/oil.  Requests for boats to be launched anywhere other than the Baruch property require a minimum of five days notice and a trailer preparation charge of $30/boat (in addition to the normal boat fee).  Costs of repairs due to negligence will be charged.
